Agoro (also referred to as "Agoro," "we," "us," or "our") provides Sale Event Manager, a Shopify app that helps merchants schedule and manage promotional sale events, including scheduled price changes, sale displays, announcement bars, navigation links, sale badges, and automatic rollback of sale changes (the "App" or "Service").
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and how merchants and individuals can contact us about privacy matters.
1.Information we collect
Information received from Shopify
When a merchant installs and uses Agoro, we receive information from Shopify that is necessary to operate the App, which may include:
- Store name, store domain, shop ID, store contact email, Shopify plan, currency, locale, and timezone.
- Product and variant information required to configure and execute sale events, such as product or variant IDs, titles, prices, compare-at prices, collections, tags, vendors, and product types.
- Store configuration information required for the App's features, such as relevant navigation, theme, and storefront settings.
- Shopify authentication and session information required to keep the merchant securely signed in to the App.
- Information Shopify sends to us about installation, uninstallation, or other app-related events.
Agoro requests only the Shopify API permissions necessary for the features described above. The exact permissions requested are shown during installation and in Shopify's app authorization flow.
Information provided by merchants
We collect information that merchants or their staff enter into the App, including sale-event schedules, discount rules, product or collection selections, announcement-bar content, navigation-link settings, badge settings, preferences, and support messages.
Technical and usage information
When the App is accessed, we may automatically collect limited technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages or App features accessed, timestamps, error information, and security logs. We use this information to authenticate sessions, secure the App, troubleshoot problems, and improve reliability.
The App may use essential cookies, session storage, or similar technologies to maintain a secure Shopify session and remember necessary settings. We do not use non-essential cookies, pixels, or similar technologies for analytics or advertising. Storefront scripts only load sale-event display data needed to show the announcement bar and sale badges. Campaign analytics in the merchant admin are aggregated from Shopify order data and are not used to track store visitors.
Information from customers and storefront visitors
Agoro is designed to manage sale presentation and product pricing. Agoro does not intentionally collect or store customers' names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, payment information, order details, or browsing histories. The app's Analytics feature reads aggregated order and sales data directly from Shopify's Admin API to display campaign performance to the merchant. This data is not stored by the app.
Merchants are responsible for providing their customers with any additional notices required by applicable privacy laws for their store and for configuring customer-consent settings where required.
2.How we use information
We use information only as needed to:
- Provide, operate, authenticate, and maintain the App.
- Create, schedule, execute, and automatically roll back sale events and related storefront changes.
- Apply merchant-selected pricing rules and display merchant-selected sale content.
- Respond to support requests and communicate about the App, including important service, security, or policy updates.
- Monitor performance, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and protect the App, merchants, Shopify, and others.
- Improve the App using aggregated or de-identified information where reasonably possible.
- Comply with applicable law, enforce our agreements, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use Shopify data for unrelated advertising or behavioral profiling.
3.How we share information
We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: With hosting, database, security, monitoring, support, email, analytics, or other vendors that process information on our behalf and under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
- Shopify: As needed to operate the App and comply with Shopify's platform requirements.
- Legal and safety reasons: When reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, respond to a valid government request, enforce our agreements, or protect the rights, safety, and security of Agoro, merchants, Shopify, or others.
- Business transfers: If Agoro is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred subject to applicable privacy requirements.
- With consent: When a merchant or individual asks us to share information or otherwise gives permission.
We do not share merchant or customer information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
4.Data retention and deletion
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the App, maintain security and business records, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and enforce agreements.
When a merchant uninstalls Agoro, we delete the merchant's active sessions immediately and permanently delete all remaining App data within 48 hours of uninstallation (upon receipt of Shopify's shop redact notification), except where we must retain limited information for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or accounting purposes. We will delete retained information when the applicable retention reason ends.
Shopify may send privacy-related requests, including requests to access or delete data. We will process those requests as required by applicable law and Shopify's requirements.
5.Security and international transfers
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure.
Agoro and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where the merchant or individual lives. Where required, we use appropriate legal safeguards for international transfers, such as an adequacy decision, standard contractual clauses, or another legally recognized transfer mechanism.
6.Privacy rights and requests
Depending on where an individual lives, they may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of their personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. These rights are subject to legal exceptions and verification requirements.
To submit a privacy request or ask a question, contact us at hello@agorolabs.com. Please include the store domain involved, a description of the request, and enough information for us to verify the request. Merchants may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their Agoro data.
If Agoro processes information on behalf of a Shopify merchant, we may direct the request to that merchant or Shopify where appropriate. Individuals may also have the right to complain to their local data-protection authority.
7.Children's privacy
The App is intended for merchants and business users and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
8.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App, our data practices, or applicable law. We will post the updated policy and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the App or another reasonable method where required.
